Shade Sails in the UAE
Qala Aluminium designs, makes and installs shade sails across the UAE from its own workshop in Al Batayih, Sharjah. A twisted four-point villa sail of about 5 × 4.5 m with HDPE fabric, posts and footings costs about AED 5,700–11,600 installed; a single triangle starts from about AED 2,900. HDPE fabric costs about AED 180–320 per m², waterproof PVC about AED 350–600. You can design your sail in our free 3D designer, see the shade at any hour and get the price instantly.
A shade sail is tensioned fabric fixed at three or four points to posts or walls. Because the corners sit at different heights, a well-made sail twists into a tight, curved surface: it shades without a heavy roof, lets the breeze through and looks architectural.
We have built sails since 2004 over villa gardens and pools, school courtyards and play areas, and between buildings. Every sail is measured on site, cut to size and installed by our own team, with posts and fixings sized for the span.

Types & options
Twisted four-point sail (hypar)
Two high and two low corners: the most popular sail in the UAE, tight, crisp and good at shedding rain.
Single triangle
The simplest and most economical sail for a patio, an entrance or a pool corner.
Layered sails
Two to four overlapping sails at stepped heights that share posts: a sculptural look over pools and large gardens.
Large tensioned sail
One large sail with stainless cable in the edges and a clear fall to one side, ready for waterproof fabric.
Wall-to-wall courtyard sails
Fixed to the walls on both sides with no posts in the way: courtyards, side yards and spaces between buildings.
Sail grids for large areas
Repeating twisted modules on shared posts for schools, mosques, malls and hotel courtyards, in one colour or a bright mix.
Sails on a steel frame, mast sails and motorised sails
Sails inside a clean portal frame, a cantilever mast with a boom for an open pool edge, or a motorised sail that rolls away in strong wind.

Questions about Shade Sails
How much does a shade sail cost in the UAE?
A twisted four-point villa sail of about 5 × 4.5 m with HDPE fabric, posts and footings costs about AED 5,700–11,600 installed. A single triangle starts from about AED 2,900. HDPE fabric is about AED 180–320 per m², waterproof PVC about AED 350–600. Try our 3D designer for an instant estimate of your own design.
Is a shade sail waterproof?
It depends on the fabric. Knitted HDPE shade fabric is breathable: it keeps the area cooler and is safer in wind, but light rain drips through — it is a sun shade, not a roof. PVC and PVDF membranes are waterproof; they need a steeper fall (about 1 m per 4–5 m) towards one low corner so the water runs off.
Why are the corners at different heights?
Alternating high and low corners give the fabric a double curve. That keeps it tight, stops flapping in the wind, sheds rain and dust, and gives the sail its architectural look. A flat sail sags and wears faster.
Can a sail be fixed to my house wall?
Yes, when the wall is structural (concrete or reinforced block). Sails pull hard on every corner, so we check the wall at the site visit and use posts where the wall is not strong enough.
What happens in strong wind?
We size the posts, footings and hardware for the span and UAE conditions. Like the fabric makers, we advise loosening or removing a sail before a severe storm or shamal warning; motorised sails can roll away automatically with a wind sensor.
Do you build sails for schools, nurseries and courtyards?
Yes. We build sail grids and colourful sails over school courtyards, play areas and nurseries, and wall-to-wall sails between buildings, with the clear height and fabric suited to each space.
Can I see the sail before ordering?
Yes. In our free 3D designer you choose the model, size, corner heights, fabric and colours, see the shade at any hour and month, place it on a photo of your space or see it at real size with your phone, and get the price instantly. Then send the design to us on WhatsApp.
